A Message from our CEO – Bryan Barratt

Last newsletter I wrote about the initial challenges of COVID, and the importance of investing in (our) People. And as we now collectively face a potentially significant ‘2nd wave’, it continues to be more important than ever. Our People are our #1 asset (without them we have nothing), and as we collectively lead through the uncertainties of life on the horizon with COVID, we need to ensure we are supporting them as best as possible. Various medical experts now suggest it could be early 2022 before we start to see life as we previously knew it… and hence investing into our People needs to become part of our permanent corporate (leadership) culture. There are hundreds of books & blogs on this topic, but it comes down a relentless passion to drive a culture where People feel and know they are appreciated and supported.

There are several key questions to ask yourself (or your organization):

How effectively have you intentionally driven the right environment, with the right conditions, to prioritize the health & well-being of your people, your colleagues, etc.?

How clear are you on what those conditions are?

Who have you asked?

What are the optimal support systems or mechanisms you have in place to do so?

As a Leader (or great colleague), how do you lead by example, and show through your actions what you prioritize and expect?

How consistent are you at doing so? How would you rate yourself on a scale of 1-10?

How do your people or colleagues respond to the questions of how are they doing, and what is their real challenge?

What leadership support processes do you have in place to respond to those?

What ongoing mechanisms do you have in place to regularly seek genuine feedback?

How committed are you to making this a key piece of your corporate culture?

What are you missing?

What else?

As our business environments continue to change & adapt, and as we look for opportunities to sharpen or pivot our strategy, our People (or colleagues) are who allow us drive Vision, execute soundly, achieve excellence, etc. Every role becomes important and relevant, and hence it’s critical to optimize having the right people, in the right role(s), prioritized on doing the right thing(s), at the right time… all within a culture or environment where they want to go to the wall for the Team. I encourage you to regularly review these questions with your Team (or within your organization)… and to best work towards a culture of excellence where your People truly feel their health and well-being truly are your #1 priority.

At TrainingPort, we continue to strive to prioritize the well-being of our People, and as an industry partner we are ready to best support you in any way we can.

We welcome your feedback, comments or further ideas.

Until we connect again,
